BEAUTY DOES NOT FADE WITH AGE, IT deepens.
A few years ago, among friends, we were discussing women and photography. At some point, the conversation turned to age, and I shared my thoughts that most women who appear in photographs are either young and conventionally beautiful or portrayed as mothers with their children.
Women over forty, let alone fifty or sixty, are rarely seen in photo studios, unless they are the subject of documents or resumes. Yet, they are no less beautiful, incredibly interesting, deep, and attractive. I noticed a vivid reaction to this idea and realized it could evolve into a project. And to be honested, I realized that I don't even have a good portrait of my mom... the cobbler's children have no shoes.
My friends reminded me that Mother's Day was approaching, which was the final piece of the puzzle for the "WE ARE MOMS" project idea to come together. Thus was born a photo project about women in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and even 70s who look stunning. About women of different professions, nationalities, and social statuses, mothers with varying numbers of children, and maternal experiences. About those filled with experience, wisdom, and inner radiance.
With incredible support from friends, we were able to realize this project in just two weeks and organize a photo exhibition dedicated to Mother's Day, which became an incredibly important experience for me as a photographer and a beautiful gift for many of our participants.
The project involved 39 women.
P.S.
I by no means intended to discredit women who are not mothers. It just so happened that our project coincided with this wonderful Mother's Day holiday, which in one way or another framed our project. Besides, at that time, at 36 years old, I also did not have children, although I dreamed of them very much. I was super inspired by these women, despite different experiences during delivery and raising children.
P.P.S.
It is important to say that I deeply regret not making backstage videos. What an endless treasure trove of positive emotions, stories, incredible anecdotes, and everyday female wisdom was freely given to me! This knowledge should be shared more often nowadays.
Despite all the positive feedback we received after the exhibition, it seems to me that I became the main beneficiary of this project.
So, meet the MOMS!
I dream of continuing this project someday. If you are interested, let me know!
Let's collaborate and make it happen.
